Since then, the program has grown quickly, and it has also started to settle into the shape we wanted: a widely accessible Learn to Play \u2013 Basic certification, and a Learn to Play \u2013 Advanced certification that remains aspirational and recognizes sustained excellence over multiple events.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5749dcb elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"5749dcb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Certification Numbers and Global Spread<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8180898 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8180898\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As of writing, more than 1,300 unique judges have passed Learn to Play \u2013 Basic certification, and 19 have earned Learn to Play \u2013 Advanced.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Regionally, the distribution is healthy and matches our expectations:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Americas: 500 Basic, 4 Advanced<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Europe: 375 Basic, 9 Advanced<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">APAC: 450 Basic, 6 Advanced<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Advanced-to-Basic ratio is intentional. Learn to Play \u2013 Advanced is meant to be a meaningful distinction, and judges should expect that earning it takes time, repetition, and multiple attempts.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a35b5fb elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"a35b5fb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Checklist Health and Review Speed<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-05baa8a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"05baa8a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Advanced checklist pipeline is currently clear: there is no Learn to Play \u2013 Advanced checklist waiting to be approved.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In 2025, our first batch took longer than we wanted, mainly because we were aligning expectations as a team and doing extra follow-ups on recommendations. Since then, the process has stabilized. For 2026, our goal is to keep turnaround under a week for either an approval or a message back to the candidate (and, when relevant, the recommender).<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b80c655 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"b80c655\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">What We Learned from Advanced Submissions<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e563973 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e563973\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The most common improvement opportunity on submissions was the recommendation quality. Many recommendations were supportive and positive, but too general to be actionable: they told us a judge was \u201cgreat\u201d without describing what the judge did.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A strong recommendation does not need to be long, but it needs to be specific. The simplest way to think about it is: actions, impact, context. Instead of \u201cThis judge was awesome,\u201d aim for statements like:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe way this judge explains the rules in the first two minutes is especially clear and gets players involved early.\u201d<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThey not only ran their own tables, but also coordinated breaks with the team and gave insightful one-on-one coaching at the end of each day.\u201d<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If someone was impressed, it should be possible to name what created that impression.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The second most common improvement opportunity was the event validity. Only official Learn to Play booths are eligible for Advanced checklists. In practice, these booths are very hard to miss: the official LSS booth kit uses large banners and prominent official art, and it should not be confused with other demo setups.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">At the same time, it was genuinely encouraging to read how many judges are teaching Flesh and Blood outside official booths: at local game stores, smaller conventions, and community spaces. That work is valuable. It builds experience, confidence, and better teaching instincts. It also directly grows local communities. Even when it cannot be counted toward Advanced for consistency reasons, it remains one of the best ways to hone L2P skills between major events.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2476cb8 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"2476cb8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Content Milestones in 2025\n<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-19bcfaf elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"19bcfaf\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Eight L2P articles were published this year, thanks to the content team and guest writers, including Eric Lee. The goal is not volume for its own sake; it is to make good practices easier to share across regions, and to make expectations clearer through public guidance, concrete examples, and learnings from booth reports.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Third, we are restructuring the team to scale better worldwide. A call for additional volunteers will be posted soon on the Judges of Rathe Discord. The main additions are:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Geo-Region Captains (Americas, EMEA, APAC): regional points of contact who help ensure local cultural and practical specificities are reflected in how the global program operates, and who support judges and TOs with communication, coaching, and smoother certification evidence.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Content Captain: coordination for L2P written materials and education content, including working with subject matter experts and guest writers (you do not need to be the person writing every article yourself).<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Guest writers remain welcome.
