News Bulletin: April 2023
With Outsiders’ release in the rear view mirror and Pro Tour Baltimore on the horizon, it’s time for another monthly news bulletin!
For those of you who missed the announcement, there has been a major update to both the Tournament Rules & Policy document as well as the Penalty Procedure Guide.
Major highlights of the changes include:
- Terminology updates for various zones such as the inventory (formerly sideboard) and card-pool (formerly deck, not to be confused with the deck zone during games).
- Codification of shortcuts, out-of-order play, and reversing of actions.
- Codification of types of information, as well as the right to a player to access which types of information during a game.
- Formal rules regarding the usage of markers during play.
- Formal rules regarding acceptable game layouts.
For a full description of changes, please read the article linked above. It is advised that judges should be proactive in communicating these changes to their local competitive community, as players may be unaware that such changes have been made.
With every Calling in the near future will come a judge conference attached. Players and staff for the Pro Tour & Calling Baltimore, the Calling Singapore, and the Calling Antwerp are all welcome to attend the judge conferences for each of these events as a way to build your judging knowledge and get to know judges from around the world!
Sign-ups for each of these events are listed below:
- Pro Tour/The Calling Baltimore (April 27, 2023)
- The Calling Antwerp (May 19, 2023)
- The Calling Singapore (June 9th, 2023)
Not attending any of the events above? Don’t worry! There will be additional online judge conferences ahead of Road to Nationals 2023 season, held in the JudgeHub Discord server. Links to the server are located in this site’s navigation menu, and the seminar schedule will be published in the coming days in the server announcements.
