News Bulletin: February 2023

Welcome to our monthly news article! As we’ve just launched, we’re a little sparse on news this month. Much of our announcements were covered in our introductory article here

Event News
Calling Indianapolis

Judges attending The Calling Indianapolis can also register for the conference on the Friday morning of the event. Attendance is not mandatory, but highly encouraged. You do not have to be on staff to attend!

Conference schedule is located on the application page here.

Pro Tour Baltimore

By the time you’re reading this, Pro Tour applications for leadership positions will have gone live on JudgeHub. All judges interested in a leadership role are encouraged to apply for Pro Tour Baltimore. A separate application for floor positions will go out later this month on JudgeHub and will be advertised on the JudgeHub and Star City Games Discord servers.

Applications for Pro Tour Baltimore leadership roles will close on Monday, February 13th. Be sure to submit your application before then!

Community Spotlight

As this is our first news article, we’re catching everyone up on some good content you may have missed!

  • Youtuber Ethnic Smoke released a series of short videos explaining interactions in the Layer Step and Resolution Step. If you need to brush up on some rules knowledge in anticipation for your tests, these videos can make a good supplement to your studies!

Did you or someone else do something that you think is worthy of recognition by the Judge Program? Contact one of our team members on Discord so that it can be featured in next month’s article!

JudgeHub Reminders

Lastly, we’d like to issue some timely reminders from the JudgeHub team!

Discord Linking

Judges should link their JudgeHub account to their Discord profile in order to gain access to judge-specific channels in the JudgeHub discord. View the guide here.

JudgeHub Bot for Regional Discords

Any regional discord server admins can also invite the bot to their server to help them automatically manage roles for certified judges.

Exam Reminder

We want to remind people that judge exams are confidential. If you receive a message asking something that sounds like an exam question, please ensure that that person isn’t actively taking an exam. Wording on the exam introduction page has been updated to reflect the confidential nature of the exams.
